About this directory

How Indie Hackers works

Indie Hackers is a community for learning, sharing progress, and building profitable online businesses. Members publish discussions, milestones, build-in-public updates, jobs, and product pages linked to their makers. The directory gives a business or side project a durable profile, while the community supports questions, tactics, collaboration, and shipping updates.

Creating a product page requires a signed-in account. The verified route is /products/new, not the older generic /submit URL. Product name, tagline, website, and logo are required. The website must begin with http:// or https://. The logo should be square or circular and at least 200 by 200 pixels. Names should contain only the name itself, and both name and tagline must fit the enforced limits.

Submission costs nothing. The current application validates the four inputs, uploads the logo, creates the product with a current publication timestamp, saves it, and then takes the founder to the product editor. That direct workflow contains no editorial approval or review queue, although moderators can still enforce the platform's terms later. Illegal, infringing, fraudulent, deceptive, harmful, abusive, spam, or otherwise inappropriate content is prohibited, and banned accounts cannot create products.

Indie Hackers should not be selected for SEO link equity. On a current public product page, the Visit Website and related website anchors use rel="nofollow noopener". The link can still send interested founders and readers to the product, but it is not dofollow. There is no published badge, Top 3, reciprocal-link, or paid upgrade that converts the product-page backlink into a followed link. The value of the listing is community context, ongoing updates, and referral discovery rather than a dofollow benefit.
