Design Snap is a powerful Chrome extension that transforms any live website into a structured, ready-to-use design system. With a single click, it extracts colors ranked by actual usage frequency, custom typography families, unique border radii, box shadows with live previews, and every CSS custom property declared on the root element. The tool goes far beyond simple color picking, delivering a complete design token workflow for designers and front-end developers.

Unlike traditional browser DevTools or design inspection tools, Design Snap lives in Chrome's side panel and stays open while you browse. You can scroll, switch tabs, navigate between pages, and the extracted tokens remain in view. This persistent workflow means you can inspect elements while keeping their computed styles visible alongside, without the panel closing on you mid-task.

Key Features

• One-click full-page extraction: Reads computed styles of the entire page, not one element at a time. Colors are ranked by actual frequency of use with hex values, typography shows custom families only with sizes, weights and line-heights, and unique radii and shadows come with live previews.

• WCAG contrast audit: Measures real contrast of every text against its effective background. Translucent backgrounds are composited before measuring, text on images or gradients is counted and skipped, and every failure shows its ratio, threshold and a suggested fix that moves lightness only to preserve brand colors.

• Live theme editing: Change a color role and the page repaints instantly. Design Snap drives the site's own CSS variables the way its author would, covering shadcn/ui, Tailwind v4 and most modern design systems. The interface tells you how many roles are steerable before your first click.

• Real dark mode: Detects a site's actual dark variant when it has one, or generates a coherent one from the light theme when it doesn't, letting you compare both instantly.

• Element inspector: Hover any element to see its computed styles in a floating panel, then copy a clean CSS block in one click.

• Design DNA card: Generate a shareable image summarizing a site's visual identity, including dominant colors, fonts and shape language.

• Snapshot library: Save tokens from analyzed sites and return to them later, even after leaving the page.

Export Formats

Design Snap supports nine export formats for maximum workflow compatibility. Copy tokens as JSON tokens, CSS variables, Tailwind config, Figma Tokens Studio, or an AI prompt on the base plan. The PRO tier adds shadcn/ui theme blocks, Tailwind v4 @theme syntax, Style Dictionary v3 format, and an AGENTS.md file for AI coding agents like Claude Code or Cursor. Every export is generated ready to paste with no cleanup needed, and the status bar tells you exactly what landed in your clipboard.

Privacy and Performance

Design Snap runs entirely in your browser with zero dependencies and no backend. No data is sent to any server, there is no Design Snap server. No account, no analytics, no tracking. The extension is built with vanilla JavaScript and analysis never leaves your browser.
