About Mailbox MCP
Hosted email MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT or any AI reads, answers and files mail in your own Outlook, Gmail, iCloud or IMAP inbox. No copy kept.
Mailbox MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any AI that speaks MCP read, search, answer and file the email you already have. It's a hosted email MCP server: you connect your mailbox once, paste one URL into your AI, and it works inside the inbox you've used for years. Nothing is migrated and no copy of your mail is kept. We run our own sales and support mail through it every day.
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to the email you already use
It works with Outlook and Microsoft 365, personal Outlook.com and Hotmail, Gmail and Google Workspace, iCloud Mail, Yahoo, Fastmail, Zoho, GMX and any IMAP mailbox on your own domain. There's a step-by-step set-up guide for each on mailbox-mcp.com:
Outlook for work (Microsoft 365): mailbox-mcp.com/connect/microsoft-365
Outlook.com and Hotmail: mailbox-mcp.com/connect/outlook-com
iCloud Mail and Calendar: mailbox-mcp.com/connect/icloud
Your own domain, Fastmail, Zoho or any IMAP host: mailbox-mcp.com/connect/imap
ChatGPT with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or IMAP: mailbox-mcp.com/docs/chatgpt
What your AI can do with your email
Ask "what's come in?" and you get the sender, subject and first line of every message in one answer. It searches across folders, reads a message or a whole thread, replies inside the existing conversation and forwards with the original attachments. It files and clears out mail the way your own mail client would. Drafts are real drafts in your Drafts folder, so you can open one in Outlook, change a word and press Send yourself.
The rule we built it on: you shouldn't be able to tell, from Outlook or webmail, that your AI handled a message rather than you. Reading doesn't mark anything as read. Sent mail is filed once. A delete goes to Trash, not into thin air.
Email attachments without base64
Your AI doesn't have to spell a file out in base64 to send it. Mailbox MCP fetches the file itself as the message is built, whether it's already in your mailbox, sits behind a web link, or was dropped on a one-off upload link, up to 20 MB a message. It reads inside attachments too, so you can ask for the total on an invoice or a figure in a spreadsheet.
Calendar, contacts and email routines
Connect a calendar (Microsoft 365, Google Calendar or any CalDAV server) and your AI can check who's free and book, move or answer meetings. Add an address book and it finds and updates the people in it. Routines put the daily jobs on a schedule you set up in Claude or ChatGPT: a morning brief, replies drafted for the people waiting on you, or the bills that arrived this week.
Permissions, shared mailboxes and security
Every connection gets a permission level you choose: read only, draft and file, or send and delete. A shared mailbox can be worked by a team, with messages claimed, handed on and held for approval before they go. Mailbox MCP is run by BSolve IT Limited, a UK company trading since 2002 that holds Cyber Essentials certification, and it's listed in Anthropic's Claude connectors directory. The full security write-up is at mailbox-mcp.com/security.
How Mailbox MCP compares
We call it the most complete hosted email MCP for the inbox you already use. That's our claim from our own comparison, with a source under every row, at mailbox-mcp.com/best-email-mcp-servers. There's also a task-by-task look at the email connectors built into Claude and ChatGPT at mailbox-mcp.com/email-connectors-compared.
Pricing
Free gives each mailbox 5 calls a day. Pro is £34.99 a year per mailbox (plus VAT) and raises that to 1,000 calls a day. Team Access, for giving colleagues their own connection to a mailbox, is bought once per account. Full details at mailbox-mcp.com/pricing.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't keep or index your mail, so every search runs live against your own mail server and is only as quick as that server. The free allowance is small: one busy conversation can use 5 calls. Calendar and contacts are a separate step from the mailbox. And there's no phone line; support is by email.

Hi, I'm Mark. I've run a small UK IT and hosting business since 2002, and I built Mailbox MCP because I wanted Claude to work in my real inbox without moving my mail anywhere. Connect Outlook, Gmail, iCloud or any IMAP mailbox once, paste one URL into Claude or ChatGPT, and it reads, replies, files and sends real attachments, while the mailbox still looks like you did it yourself. We run our own support inbox on it every day. Tell me what you'd want it to do next.
