Ranking, Leaderboards, and Rules

7 min read·April 17, 2026·KittyLaunch

KittyLaunch uses rankings and leaderboards to help users discover active products and trusted creators.

Rankings are based on platform activity, but not every activity is automatically treated as valid forever. KittyLaunch may review suspicious activity and invalidate upvotes when needed to protect the fairness of the platform.

This guide explains how product rankings, creator rankings, weekly awards, dense ranking, and vote rules work.

Why rankings exist

Rankings help users answer questions like:

  • Which products are getting attention this week?
  • Which products are trending this month?
  • Which creators are active and trusted?
  • Which products won previous launch weeks?

Rankings also help creators understand how their launch is performing.

Product Leaderboard

The Product Leaderboard ranks products by voting performance during a selected period.

It answers this question:

Which products are performing best during this period?

KittyLaunch supports product leaderboard periods such as:

  • weekly
  • monthly

For weekly ranking, the product launch date must fall inside the current week.

For monthly ranking, the product launch date must fall inside the current month.

Only published products are included in normal public leaderboard views.

How products are sorted

Products are mainly sorted by upvote count, using vote weight.

If a Level 1 user upvotes a product, that vote adds 1 vote weight.

If a higher-level user upvotes a product, that vote can add more weight based on the user's level.

When products have similar vote counts, newer activity or creation timing may affect display order.

Creator Leaderboard

The Creator Leaderboard ranks users by Reputation Points.

It answers this question:

Which creators have earned the most reputation?

Creator ranking is based on RP, not only product upvotes.

RP can come from:

  • launching products
  • receiving product upvotes
  • writing reviews
  • receiving reviews
  • gaining followers
  • verifying products
  • claiming Daily Streak rewards

The Creator Leaderboard can show periods such as:

  • all time
  • monthly
  • yearly

All-time ranking uses total RP. Period ranking uses RP earned during the selected period.

Product Leaderboard vs Creator Leaderboard

The Product Leaderboard ranks products.

The Creator Leaderboard ranks people.

A new creator can have a high-ranking product if the product performs well.

An experienced creator can rank high on the Creator Leaderboard even if they do not have the top product this week.

Use the Product Leaderboard to discover launches. Use the Creator Leaderboard to discover active builders.

Weekly Awards

Weekly Awards recognize the top products from each competition week.

The competition period uses an ISO week:

Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 23:59:59 UTC.

Products compete in the week of their launch date.

Which products qualify for Weekly Awards

A product must:

  • be published
  • have a launch date inside the competition week
  • receive qualifying votes

Products that are draft, deleted, banned, or not part of the competition week do not qualify for that week's awards.

Which votes count for Weekly Awards

Regular votes count if they were cast during the competition period.

Invalid votes do not count.

Dense ranking explained

KittyLaunch uses dense ranking for Weekly Awards.

If two products have the same vote count, they share the same rank. The next different vote count gets the next rank number.

Example:

  • 10 weekly votes, rank 1
  • 10 weekly votes, rank 1
  • 9 weekly votes, rank 2
  • 8 weekly votes, rank 3

In this example, two products are rank 1. The next product is rank 2, not rank 3.

Winner badges

Weekly Top 3 winners can receive badges such as:

  • Top 1
  • Top 2
  • Top 3

Winner badges may appear in the product dashboard and can be embedded on the product's website.

The badge helps show that the product was a weekly winner on KittyLaunch.

Benefits of Top 3 Winners

After weekly awards are published, winning products can appear in the Archive or Hall of Fame style surfaces.

The Archive helps users discover past winners and gives creators a lasting record of their launch result.

Official weekly results are based on the award publication record. This helps keep past results stable.

Suspicious upvotes and invalid votes

KittyLaunch has the right to review and invalidate suspicious upvotes.

An upvote may appear at first, then later be marked invalid after review.

When a vote is invalidated, KittyLaunch may reduce the product's upvote count by the vote's weight.

Invalid votes do not count toward rankings, leaderboards, or Weekly Awards.

This rule exists to protect real creators and keep competition fair.

Examples of suspicious voting behavior

Suspicious behavior can include:

  • many votes from the same IP address
  • votes from fake or throwaway accounts
  • coordinated vote rings
  • paid or forced upvotes
  • bot activity
  • repeated suspicious activity from the same network
  • voting patterns that do not look like real product discovery
  • accounts created only to boost one product

This list is not exhaustive. KittyLaunch may review other patterns if they appear abusive or manipulative.

KittyLaunch's right to invalidate votes

KittyLaunch may invalidate upvotes when we believe the votes are suspicious, artificial, abusive, or harmful to the fairness of the platform.

This can happen even if the votes were already visible on the product page.

KittyLaunch may also take further action if vote manipulation is serious, repeated, or connected to other policy violations.

Possible actions include:

  • invalidating votes
  • reducing product upvote count
  • reducing product visibility
  • demoting a product
  • banning a product
  • restricting an account
  • blocking abusive traffic

Vote quality matters more than vote volume

A smaller number of real votes is better than a larger number of suspicious votes.

Real support is more valuable because it can lead to reviews, feedback, users, and long-term trust.

Trying to manipulate votes can hurt your product more than it helps.

FAQ

Do all upvotes count toward rankings?

Only valid upvotes count. Suspicious or invalidated upvotes may be removed from product counts and ranking calculations.

Can KittyLaunch invalidate a vote after it appears?

Yes. A vote can appear first and be invalidated later after review.

Why does KittyLaunch invalidate suspicious votes?

To keep rankings fair and protect creators who earn real community support.

No. Featured increases visibility, but vote validity is still reviewed under the same rules.

Does a Verified product automatically win?

No. Verification can provide benefits such as trust signals and a system vote, but ranking still depends on valid competition activity.

Can more than three products win Top 3?

Yes. Dense ranking allows ties. If products share rank 1, 2, or 3, more than three products can receive badges.

Why is my product not visible on the leaderboard?

Your product may be outside the selected period, not published, demoted, banned, or not eligible for that leaderboard view.

Can I appeal a moderation decision?

If your product is banned or moderated, you may be able to submit an appeal from your dashboard.
