About FORE
iPhone golf you play by swinging the phone like a club — soft swings, gyro speed + wrist roll, one island green. No aim stick or power bar.
FORE started from a habit every golfer knows: air-swinging the TV remote while the kettle boils. That motion already feels like a club. FORE turns it into a shot.
You hold the iPhone like an 8-iron, tap SWING, feel the countdown, and make a soft swing. CoreMotion samples the sensors at a high rate. Peak angular velocity becomes swing power and distance. Device roll at impact becomes face angle — open for fade, closed for draw. There is no on-screen aim stick and no power meter to drag. The swing is the control scheme.
The course is deliberately small. One hole: a 153-yard par 3 island green over water, calibrated around a stock short-iron. The point is not a 18-hole tour sim. The point is swing feel on a phone you already carry — practice tempo, learn how face angle shapes the ball, and chase better contact without a bag of clubs.
Safety is part of the design. Soft swings only. Hold the phone securely. This is couch and kitchen golf, not a full-speed driver in a living room.
I shipped FORE solo as a focused motion-control experiment. Feedback I care about most: what feels fake on first swing, whether the first-run explanation is clear, and what would make the short-iron feel more believable for golfers who already chase launch numbers on a sim.
The island green is the whole course on purpose. Distance control and face awareness matter more when water surrounds the target. Miss left or right and you learn quickly whether the face was open or closed at impact. Hit it thin and you feel it in the numbers. That tight feedback loop is what I wanted from a phone you can pick up for thirty seconds between meetings.
If you care about swing feel, try a few soft swings and tell me what breaks immersion first. That feedback shapes what I build next.
