About QPulse Story Analyzer
QPulse scores user stories and acceptance criteria against INVEST and SMART, flags exactly which criterion fails, and rewrites them so teams build the right thing.
QPulse is a requirements quality analyzer that turns vague user stories into clear, buildable specifications. Most stories start with "As a user, I want..." and most of them go wrong right there. A story that is not clear does not look unclear. It looks like everyone agreeing, right up until someone writes the code. QPulse catches that gap before it reaches sprint planning.
What It Does
Paste a user story, with or without acceptance criteria, and QPulse scores it against two established standards. It checks the story itself against INVEST: Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, and Testable. It checks the attached acceptance criteria against SMART. Instead of returning one vague number, QPulse shows the result letter by letter, so you see exactly which criterion failed and why.
INVEST scoring for user stories: every story gets assessed on independence, negotiability, value, estimability, size, and testability.
SMART scoring for acceptance criteria: see how solid the story is and how clear its conditions are.
Gherkin Given When Then validation: confirm that scenarios describe a starting state, an action, and an expected outcome.
Automated rewrite: QPulse returns a corrected version of your story that clears the criteria.
Acceptance criteria generation: leave the criteria blank and QPulse drafts two Given When Then scenarios, one where things go right and one where they do not.
Definition of Ready checks: verify that a backlog item meets the entry gate before the team pulls it into a sprint.
How It Works
There are three steps and no setup. Paste a user story and its acceptance criteria, or just the story if the criteria are not written yet. QPulse scores it against INVEST and SMART and shows which criteria failed and why. Then take the suggested rewrite, or edit it yourself and re score until it clears.
Already have acceptance criteria written? Paste them in and QPulse scores and rewrites what you wrote rather than replacing it. It works with your existing format instead of forcing a new one.
Why It Stands Out
Every other part of a delivery pipeline has a gate. Code gets reviewed. Builds get tested. Deploys get checked. The requirement, which everything else depends on, gets waved through in a thirty minute meeting. QPulse gives that requirement a number. Not to gatekeep a team, but so "this story is not ready" stops being one person's opinion and becomes something you can point at.
Most story generator tools quietly ignore the case where no acceptance criteria exist at all. QPulse handles it directly by drafting testable conditions for you, so the story is testable even before a single test case is written.
Checking dozens of stories by hand in one refinement session is not realistic, which is why almost no team applies INVEST consistently. QPulse does it in seconds.
Who It Is For
Business analysts: stop defending stories in a call nine days after you wrote them. Catch the gap before it ships to the board.
QA engineers: get acceptance criteria you can actually build test cases from, without chasing the author for a week.
Product engineers: know before you branch whether the ticket has enough in it to finish.
Developers: spot the epic pretending to be a story before it eats your sprint.
Requirements quality is measurable. Most teams just never measure it. QPulse makes it a number you can track over time, so refinement stops being a debate about opinion and starts being a check against a standard.
