What relaunch is

Relaunch gives a published product a fresh active launch.

It is designed for products that want a new round of attention, a new current launch record, and a fresh chance to compete as a current launch without throwing away the product's longer history.

Relaunch is not a normal edit

This is the most important rule to understand.

A normal edit updates the existing product page.

A relaunch does more than that:

  • it archives the current launch's upvotes
  • it creates a fresh active launch state
  • it records launch history
  • it can notify followers again

So relaunch should be treated as a new launch cycle, not as a simple content update.

Who can relaunch a product

Relaunch is intended for products that are already published.

The product also needs to remain eligible under the current platform rules. For example, products under moderation are not normal relaunch candidates.

What you can update during relaunch

Relaunch can update many launch facing fields, including:

  • name
  • tagline
  • short description
  • description
  • screenshots
  • category
  • tags
  • pricing
  • thank you note
  • launch date mode

This lets the maker refresh positioning and presentation for the new launch cycle.

What you cannot change during relaunch

The website URL stays fixed during relaunch.

That is expected behavior because the product identity is still tied to that website.

Launch timing during relaunch

Relaunch supports the same general timing choices makers expect from a launch flow, such as:

  • go live now
  • schedule a future date

Relaunch also bypasses the normal weekly capacity limit. That is one of the reasons relaunch is treated differently from a normal first launch.

What resets when relaunch happens

When relaunch is confirmed, the current active launch state changes in important ways.

The main resets are:

  • current active upvotes are archived
  • the visible active upvote count resets
  • the new launch becomes the current active launch

This is why ranking behavior after relaunch must be understood as a fresh current launch.

For ranking details, read Ranking, Leaderboards, and Rules.

What stays attached after relaunch

Relaunch resets the current launch, but it does not wipe the full product history.

Important long term assets can stay attached, including:

  • launch history
  • winner badges
  • reviews
  • comments
  • product identity

This lets a product build long term credibility while still gaining a fresh current launch.

Launch history

Relaunch adds to the product's launch history.

That history helps the maker and the platform keep a record of earlier launch cycles instead of pretending they never happened.

Relaunch notifications

Relaunch can notify product followers that the product is live again.

That matters because product follow is part of the current subscription system for product updates.

Read Following Products and Product Notifications for the follower side of this behavior.

Relaunch and waitlist

If the product already uses related launch communication systems, relaunch can work alongside them according to the product's current setup.

If you are trying to understand waitlist and SuperKitty specifically, read Waitlist Guide and SuperKitty Guide.

Relaunch and SuperKitty

Relaunch is not a SuperKitty feature.

However, if a product already has SuperKitty, that SuperKitty status can stay with the product after relaunch.

When relaunch makes the most sense

Relaunch is most useful when:

  • the product has changed meaningfully
  • you want a fresh active launch window
  • you want to refresh positioning and screenshots
  • you want another round of current visibility
