Following a product is tied to product updates, launch alerts, relaunch alerts, and part of the Feedback Portal notification flow.
Product follow and creator follow are different
KittyLaunch has two different follow systems.
Follow creator
Follow creator means you want to follow the person.
That is handled through creator profiles and creator follower counts.
Read Creator Profiles and Following Creators for that system.
Follow product
Follow product means you want updates from one specific product.
That follow is tied to the product itself, not to every product the creator will ever launch.
How to follow a product
On a product page, use the product follow action.
When you follow a product:
- the product enters your followed products list
- you become eligible for future product update notifications
Click the same action again to unfollow.
Where to find followed products
Your followed products appear in the dedicated following view and in the related dashboard experience.
This lets you come back to products you want to watch over time.
What following a product now does
Following a product is now used as a shared subscription layer for product updates.
That means product follow can power notifications for:
- first launch
- relaunch
- roadmap shipped notifications
- changelog published notifications
This is why the system should no longer be thought of as a simple private bookmark only.
Launch notifications
If you follow a product before it goes live, you can be notified when it launches.
This is especially useful for products you discovered before launch and want to revisit later.
Relaunch notifications
If a followed product is relaunched, followers can receive a relaunch notification.
This matters because relaunch creates a fresh active launch, not just a minor edit.
For relaunch details, read Relaunch Guide.
Roadmap and changelog subscriptions use the same follow record
If you follow a product, that follow can also act as your subscription for roadmap and changelog updates.
In practice, this means:
- if the product ships a roadmap item, you can be notified
- if the product publishes a changelog entry, you can be notified
So product follow is now closely tied to the Feedback Portal.
For the module level rules, read Feedback Portal Guide.
Waitlist and product follow are related, but not identical
Waitlist behavior depends on the product and the user state.
Logged in user joins a waitlist
If a logged in user joins a product waitlist, the system can also create the product follow relationship automatically.
This helps turn pre launch interest into post launch and post update notifications.
Guest joins a waitlist
A guest waitlist join does not create the same normal logged in product follow relationship.
Guest waitlist behavior is email based.
Read Waitlist Guide for the full waitlist flow.
Product follow and roadmap subscribe buttons
Some product experiences use wording such as Subscribe for updates in the roadmap or changelog area.
In the current system, that subscription maps to the same underlying product follow record.
That means following a product and subscribing to roadmap or changelog updates are now part of one connected behavior.
When product follow is most useful
Following a product is most useful when:
- the product is not live yet
- you want relaunch alerts
- you care about roadmap progress
- you want changelog updates
- you may come back later to review or try the product
Best practices for users
Use product follow when you care about one specific product over time.
Use creator follow when you care about the builder across future launches.
If you care about both, use both.
